Maps/Geography: There are two kinds of people in the
world: map lovers and folks who don't have the slightest clue where they
are. (The latter group stopped reading at the title, so we can say nasty
things about them.) For us enlightened ones, the US Geological Survey has
teamed up with those kindly and wonderful folks at Microsoft (yes, I do
own stock) to present a new Internet service that allows us to zoom in
on locations all across the US and on a few other places in the world,
too. The Internet address (URL) for this paragon is http://terraserver.microsoft.com.
The USGS has lots of other services on line, and they can be found at http://www.usgs.gov/.
As might be expected, there is a
wealth of information on maps and geography on the Internet. Some of the
best sites are: http://www.cgrer.uiowa.edu/servers/servers_references.html,
